Is There Any Reason For This Blog?

Between the years 1998 and 2004, I wrote a little column for the Mill Valley Herald called "Coach's Corner". They wanted some local sports reporting, and I was a varsity coach.

Pretty soon basketball season was over and I kept writing. SInce I figured that no one but my mother read my column, I started writing about absolutely any random thing that caught my fancy. This included reflections on coaching and dogs, a serial entitled "Super Soccer Moms of Marin", the coach's guide to War and Peace, and the love life of our guinea pig who was named, amazingly, Pig.

One day in 2003, apoplectic about the Democratic Party's ultimate cowardice about the war in Iraq, I wrote a column about Dennis Kucinich called "How to Save the World for 20 Bucks." The column went all over the world. I was inundated with mail from everywhere. I found out that hundreds of people actually read my column.

My columns sat on my computer and in a box causing too much dust in the house. Random strangers kept asking me if I would please put some of them on the web.

Since there are 250 of them, this is going to take me a while, but here is a start.

Hope you get a kick out of them.
